When you think of College Signing Day you may think of the date in February when student athletes can officially sign their National Letters of Intent to commit to play their sport in college. It's an exciting time for certain, but where's the hype for non-athletes who want to announce their college plans? Enter: College Signing Day -- a day set aside each year to celebrate students' commitment to higher education.
On Friday, students are encouraged to post pictures of their college choice on social media using theĀ hashtagĀ #collegesigningday.

College Signing Day was created as part of former first lady, Michelle Obama's "Reach Higher" initiative as a way to encourage those who are headed to college. In conjunction with College Signing Day, theĀ "Better Make Room" campaign was created to get teens to start thinking about life after high school, whether that means college or vocational training.
According to the Better Make Room website, the campaign "aims to elevate college students to the level of celebrities and says to the world, 'These young people are about to do something great. We Better Make Room.'"
