HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā Authorities have identified the students behind a series of tweets Monday morning that threatened to shoot up Driftwood Middle School, Hollywood police said.
One Twitter post Monday morning from @balliztFTW said, "When my ak gets outta the shop you down 2 shoot up sum place called Driftwood Middle School? I heard theres like 1500 kids."
Twitter user @Bemomom tweeted back, "Yah, let's shoot up this school Driftwood Middle School, 2751 N. 70th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024."
Hollywood police said they had extra officers on campus Monday through dismissal.
Parents Local 10 News spoke to said they were contacted by their children, and said that the students felt safe at school despite the threats.
"I think it's very serious and I haven't heard anything about it," one parent, Deborah Liptroot, said.Ā
A Broward County Public Schools representative said the school was operating under a modified lockdown Monday, where movement was limited, but classes were going on as usual.
Hollywood police said the Broward District Schools Police Department is handling the investigation.
Three students are being questioned.
It's unclear whether the students will face charges.
