The following 10 schools have reported the most violent incidences throughout all of South Florida, but how does violence relate to student test scores? It seems as though the two variables have a direct correlation.
Six of the top 10 most violent South Florida schools have a low test rating of two out of 10, according to education.com. The education.com test rating is a number ranging from one through 10 calculated by comparing the school's state standardized test results to those of other schools in the same state. The computation provides an overview of a school's test performance in any given year.

The six schools with a test rating of two are Brownsville Middle School, Cutler Ridge Middle School, North Dade Middle School, Arthur Roberts Ashe Junior Middle School, Carol Middle School and Allapattah Middle School.
The remaining four schools ranked within the top 10 most violent earn a test rating of three or four. Norland Middle School earns a three while South Dade Senior High, Coconut Palm K-8 Academy and North Miami Middle School each receive a four out of 10.
In 2014, the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test state average for math was 53 percent and the state average for reading was 60 percent according to greatschools.org. Many of the aforementioned schools did not score half as well as the state average. At Carol City Middle School the 2014 school average for math was 18. The school reading average just reached half that of the state's at 30 percent.
The 2014 school averages for Arthur Robert Ashe Junior Middle School's FCAT math and reading scores are not reported. However, from 2011 to 2013 the school's math average never surpassed 24 percent and the reading average high was a low 22 percent.
