This year to keep with social distancing guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic the Big Book Drive is hosting drive-thru events at two public schools. The books are being distributed to families in need who are lining up at the drive-thru event to collect food. Vera Cadillac has been the sponsor of the program to promote literacy among South Florida children in need. The 5-year-old program has already distributed more than 125,000 books in South Florida.

The boy's father left the loaded gun that the teen was playing with in a drawer, police said.
