Fuel hope, build new Ronald McDonald House

From now through November 2025, South Floridians can raise funds for a new Ronald McDonald House simply by fueling their vehicles.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) South Florida is partnering with Sunshine Gasoline Distributors to help families with ill or injured children stay together and close to the medical care their child needs. The fundraising initiative, called “Fuel Hope for Families,” will run at 50 gas stations and feature 100 pumps. For every gallon pumped at the participating stations, one cent will be donated to RMHC South Florida. The goal is to raise $35 million for the new Ronald McDonald House.

“We are immensely grateful for the steadfast support of Sunshine Gasoline, which is vital to our mission of assisting families during their most challenging times,” said Soraya Rivera-Moya, Executive Director of RMHC South Florida.

The new 60,000 square-foot Ronald McDonald House will be located just steps from Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, featuring 54 in-suite bedrooms capable of accommodating approximately 420 families each year. Currently, 125 families are turned away annually due to space limitations.

“We are proud to extend our partnership with RMHC South Florida,” said Eduardo Alvarez, Senior Operations Manager for Sunshine Gasoline. “Every gallon pumped counts. Together, we can provide crucial support to families when they need it most.”

This is the second time Sunshine Gasoline Distributors and RMHC South Florida collaborate. In 2021, the partnership raised more than $500,000.
