Be a superhero, help kids beat cancer

MIAMI ā€“ The Live Like Bella Foundation is hosting its annual Superhero 5K on Saturday, Feb. 8. The race will take place at Tropical Park, located at 7900 SW 40th St. in Miami.

Named after Bella Rodriguez-Torres, who bravely fought cancer until the age of ten, Live Like Bella was founded in 2013 with the mission to help children with cancer and their families.

The Superhero 5K race honors children who, like Bella, face their cancer battle with strength and altruism. The funds raised will go toward innovative pediatric cancer research trials, meeting basic needs for affected families and memorial services in the unfortunate event that a child passes.

Race participants will receive an event t-shirt, entry to the Finish Festival and a medal inspired by a local cancer fighter. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race kicks off promptly at 8 a.m.

ā€œYear after year it brings together families to honor children who have battled, survived, or lost their lives to cancer,ā€ said Nicole de Lara Puente, CEO of the Live Like Bella Foundation. ā€œIt is humbling to witness these children running alongside participants dressed in their superhero gear with smiles.ā€
