Local 10′s Jenise Fernandez served as the emcee for the walk, which raised more than $549,000.
“Heart Walk participants are making a huge impact on the health of our community,” said Alex Almazan, the 2024 Miami-Dade Heart Walk co-chair. “Every step and every dollar supports research, CPR training, medical breakthroughs, and champions for equitable health. Together, we advance the American Heart Association’s mission for a healthier future.”
The walk took place at the campus’s MARC lawn. It featured a live warmup, a hands-on CPR class and blood pressure check station.
“One of my favorite things about the Heart Walk is the feeling of community,” said Marisol Vera, executive director of the American Heart Association, Greater Miami and Fort Lauderdale. “It encourages people from all backgrounds to come together and live heart-healthy lives.”
