MIRAMAR, Fla. – February is Heart Awareness Month and what better way to make the heart feel good than by engaging in physical activity for a worthy cause.
By participating in the eighth annual Tour de Broward, you can exercise those cardiac muscles and raise funds to help children at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. Events include 50 and 100K bike rides, a timed 5K run, a 3K walk and a sports-themed area for kids 13 or younger.

The event will take place Sunday, Feb. 26 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miramar Regional Park. The 2016 event broke all previous records, raising more than $500,000 and positively impacting many services provided to thousands of children who require outpatient visits, surgery and other medical attention.
Since its inception, the Tour de Broward has raised more than $2 million to aid the growth of the Hollywood-based hospital. This year, funds will go toward the expansion of pediatric programs and services.
"Every time she's there, they make her life easier and give her strength," said Maria, mother of a 6-year-old pediatric patient, about the staff at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. "I don't have the words inside my heart to thank everyone at this wonderful, blessed place that God has sent me."
While the Tour de Broward will kick off at Miramar Regional Park, located at 26801 Miramar Parkway, participant and volunteer parking will be held on the grounds of Memorial Hospital Miramar at 1901 SW 172nd Ave. Shuttles will be provided.
