Friday, Feb. 5

Broward County Public Schools Centennial Year

 

The Broward County Public School system encourages students, parents, staff and community members to get involved and wear its centennial colors on Friday, Feb. 5. On this day, the system will celebrate its 100th day of school. Centennial certificates will be awarded to students who attend the first 100 days of school with no absences. Be sure to tweet centennial photos using #BCPS100.

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church Concert Series

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church invites music lovers of all ages and preferences to its 2015-16 concert series, featuring musicians in a variety of genres, from classical to jazz and everything in between. On Friday, Feb. 5,  the Peter and Will Anderson Jazz Trio will delight attendees inside the church’s sanctuary. 

Cost: Ticket prices range from $5 to $25.

Enjoy your day at the show and experience the boating lifestyle in a whole new way. The event will feature on-the-water boating workshops, daily seminars and fun ways to test the waters, including paddle sports demos.  There will also be a new menu of dining and food options that cater to every taste, with several restaurants right on site.

Adults - $20 ($35 on Premier Day - Thursday, Feb. 11)

Two-day pass - $35

Five-day pass - $85

Bring a picnic basket and a blanket and enjoy an evening under the stars as you listen to this free Latin jazz concert. The concert is part of the Noches Tropicales (Tropical Nights) series, presented by Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces.

Coconut Grove Arts Festival

Streets of Coconut Grove – McFarlane Road, South Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive

Celebrating its 53rd anniversary, the Coconut Grove Arts Festival is the nation's top outdoor fine arts festivals. The three-day festival showcases the works of over 380 of the finest artists and craftsmen in the world. A signature event of the South Florida cultural calendar, the Arts Festival is a true "celebration of the arts" offering visitors the opportunity to meet with exhibiting artists, sample fine cuisine, enjoy live entertainment and take in the tropical waterfront views of Coconut Grove.

Residents of Coconut Grove - $5 (must present valid state issued ID)

Heart Health Walk

The third annual Heart Health Walk is a free, family-friendly event. The 2.6-mile walk will follow the paved trails along the banks of Snake Creek Canal. Participants will begin and end at Gwen Margolis Amphitheater.

If you're a legal permanent resident interested in becoming a U.S. citizen, the League of Women Voters can help. The organization will hold a citizenship clinic Saturday, Feb. 27, and Sunday, Feb. 28.
