MEDLEY, Fla. – Northbound traffic on the Palmetto Expressway near Northwest 74th Street in Medley was down to one lane after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at 4 a.m. on Friday morning. The pedestrian, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead on the scene by Florida Highway Patrol.
According to an FHP spokesman, the driver of a Toyota sedan was traveling northbound in the far right lane and struck the pedestrian
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene with authorities. The reason the pedestrian was walking towards oncoming traffic is unknown.
At 6 a.m. all traffic lanes were reopened.
