OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – One man was killed and two other men were injured Thursday afternoon in a drive-by shooting in Opa-locka, authorities confirmed.
The shooting was reported shortly after 3 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 13000 block of Northwest 30th Avenue.
Miami-Dade police confirmed one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim is in serious condition, and the third victim is in stable condition.
Freddie Mae Strewer, who identified herself to Local 10 News as the grandmother of the man killed in the shooting, said she was upset by how police were handling the crime scene.
"I'm the grandmother and I asked them to make an exception for me to go be with my daughter, and they wouldn't do it," she said. "And she's down there screaming and hollering, and my grandson is dead."
Another relative of the victim said the shooter was armed with an AK-47.
"My daughter says somebody came by with an AK-47 and started shooting in black clothing," Albert Strewer said.
Detectives did not immediately have a description of the shooter/shooters or of the vehicle used in the drive-by.
