Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the measures target military-owned conglomerate Myanmar Economic Holdings Ltd. for its involvement in serious abuses against the country's Rohingya minority and for its association with senior military figures. Thursday's announcement followed asset freezes and travel bans that the British government imposed on nine members of Myanmar's military leadership last month. On Wednesday, more than 600 demonstrators were released, a rare conciliatory gesture by the military that appeared aimed at placating the protest movement.

They left from the Torch of Friendship on Biscayne Boulevard, beginning on NW 8th Street and marched throughout historic Overtown, continuing to the state attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle's office along NW 12th Avenue. We want people to have access to affordable housing, Tiffany Burks of Black Lives Matter Alliance said. Rundles office was intended as their final destination because protesters said they believe the state attorney has abandoned victims of police brutality. They are calling on her to meet with local families who have been directly impacted by police violence.

The demonstration was organized in response to widespread, and much larger, Black Lives Matter protests that have sprung up all over South Florida and throughout the country. Evelio Medina, who founded the group Law Abiding Citizens Coalition, was the organizer of Sundays Law and Order rally. While several people at the Law and Order rally were wearing clothing bearing the Proud Boys name, most of the demonstrators were not. There were also a few loud, verbal exchanges when a small group of BLM protesters marched through the Law and Order rally.

According to a report by the Toms Rivera Center completed shortly after the unrest, immigration authorities took advantage of the riots to find unauthorized immigrants. There were reports of not just immigration authorities pulling people aside, but of Los Angeles police sending people they'd detained straight over to them. He said the issue of police brutality against black people resonates with immigrants because theyre often subjected to or fear aggressive tactics by immigration authorities.
