Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis held a press conference at a Home Depot in Fort Myers on Tuesday morning, where he spoke about the tax-free holiday to help South Floridians prepare for the upcoming hurricane season.

Florida's largest power company is preparing for this year's hurricane season by pretending a major storm already hit.

The deadly and destructive hurricane season of 2022 officially ends. In its wake, the long road to recovery continues, especially in southwest Florida, where Ian – the deadliest hurricane to strike the mainland U.S. in at least a decade and one of the costliest hurricanes on record – devastated communities and reshaped shorelines.

Southwest Florida is getting some advice from the Florida Panhandle as it moves ahead after Hurricane Ian.

After thrashing east-central and northeast Florida yesterday afternoon as a strong tropical storm, Ian found its second wind after reemerging over Atlantic waters and was reclassified a hurricane on Thursday about 70 miles east of Daytona Beach.

Ian marched across central Florida on Thursday as a tropical storm after battering the state’s southwest coast, dropping heavy rains that caused flooding and led to inland rescues and evacuations.

As forecasts foretold, Ian took advantage of ripe conditions in the western Caribbean late yesterday to blossom overnight into the Atlantic’s fourth hurricane of 2022.

– Hurricane Delta sped up one Louisiana couple's wedding by a few days, but judging by the smiles on the bride and groom, it certainly didn't dampen the affair. Skies were gray, but the rain held off while the wedding party gathered. The streets outside were largely deserted as residents finished up last-minute storm preparations or evacuated. “Within 16 hours they threw an entire wedding together, and it’s beautiful. It was very important for her that she did get married in the church and when that almost didn’t happen she was so distraught,” she said.
