It’s a rare year when most of the Oscar nomination surprises are good ones, but 2020 was also a rare year for moviegoing and awards campaigns. FEMALE DIRECTORS GET THEIR SHOTFor 92 Academy Awards, only 5 women had ever been nominated for best director and never more than one in the same year. This year, the dubious honor goes to Glenn Close for her portrayal of Mamaw in Ron Howard’s adaptation of J.D. Starring Mads Mikkelsen, the film was well received, but seemed like a long shot for the major Oscars categories.

But a costume company obviously believes the world needs a sexier version of Fred Rogers. Although Yandy's new "Nicest Neighbor Costume" doesn't name names, it's not hard to figure out who they're attempting to emulate. And if you wanted to go the extra mile, the company offers puppet accessories that look a lot like popular Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood characters King Friday and Daniel Striped Tiger.

(CNN) - Just in time for a Monday, Sony has released the first trailer for the upcoming film about the late Fred Rogers, "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood." In the teaser, schoolchildren sing to Rogers on the subway, and we see Tom Hanks dressed as the children's television host on the set of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood." The film is loosely based on a 1998 Esquire article by Tom Junod, about the effect Rogers' optimistic kindness had on millions of people -- and the initially skeptical journalist himself. "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" aired for 31 seasons before coming to an end in 2001. "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" is slated to release in November.
