American Airlines to add free Wi-Fi perk

American Airlines will offer travelers free Wi-Fi on most of its flights in the near future.

According to media release, members of the company’s free loyalty program, AAdvantage, will be able to access the free Wi-Fi as soon as Jan. 2026 on most domestic flights.

United Airlines began offering free internet service on flights last year via Elon Musk’s satellite-based Starlink Wi-Fi service.

Delta Air Lines began offering free in-flight Wi-Fi last year using Viasat, a rival to Starlink. Hawaiian Airlines uses Starlink for free internet service on Airbus A321neo flights between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. United plans a more aggressive rollout across its fleet of more than 1,000 United and United Express planes.
