According to an arrest report obtained Friday by Local 10 News, DeShawn Tyres Allen, 29, targeted the victim, Chaddric Loray, 52, because he believed Loray was “talking to his girlfriend.”
The shooting was reported March 3 in the area of 701 NW Ninth Ave.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office said deputies found Loray lying on the roadway after he had been shot multiple times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the report, detectives obtained surveillance video, which captured a work truck with a unique paint job heading south on Ninth Avenue before the driver exits the truck and then gets back inside and “pulls off southbound.”
Detectives said they discovered that Allen and Loray had gotten into a dispute earlier that evening at an apartment complex where Allen lives with his girlfriend.
The dispute was in regards to Allen believing that Loray was “talking to his girlfriend,” the report stated.
According to the report, detectives interviewed the girlfriend who said that she and the victim went to the Pompano Beach Casino and Allen followed them there.
He then followed them as they left the casino and then shot the victim as the girlfriend was being dropped off at the location on Ninth Avenue, authorities said.
Detectives said Allen’s employer confirmed that the work truck seen in the surveillance video belonged to his company and that Allen had access to the truck.
Allen was arrested that same night on a charge of premeditated murder.
As of Friday morning, he remained at the Broward Main Jail without bond.
