MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Local 10 News exclusively obtained video of a man hurling hateful language during a January attack at a Miami Beach bar that police said was a hate crime.
Authorities said 42-year-old customer Michael John Nixon told a Hispanic worker at Norman’s Tavern, located at 6770 Collins Ave. on North Beach, “F---ing Trump is going to deport your a--” on the evening of Jan. 19, a little more than 12 hours before the presidential inauguration.
Police said Nixon, of Arlington, Virginia, was incensed over a $130.81 bar tab that he refused to pay. That would later turn into a more than $5,000 bond after his arrest on a felony charge of battery with prejudice, along with misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, defrauding an innkeeper and disorderly conduct.

Police said it came amid a series of “Hispanophobic” remarks heard on the surveillance footage.
“Hola. English, motherf---er,” Nixon is accused of saying. “I live in America. You speak English.”
Authorities said Nixon then repeated “English, b----,” four times.
The video also shows the man making disparaging remarks about Cubans amid the attack.
The bartender defended himself from the physical assault by punching Nixon in the face, police said. Authorities said Nixon left, but later came back to the bar as officers were at the scene.
Miami-Dade court records show his case remains pending as of Wednesday.
