DORAL, Fla. – Air Force One landed at Miami International Airport Saturday night, before President Donald Trump quickly got into an awaiting vehicle and headed to Trump National Doral, where he will meet with fellow Republicans on Monday.
The president did not take any questions from reporters.
Supporters and heavy security were awaiting the president in Doral.
Trump ended his sixth day in office in South Florida after a whirlwind of a first week.
On Friday, Trump toured the destruction from the California wildfires, which destroyed more than 10,000 buildings and killed 30 people in the Los Angeles area.
Also in North Carolina on Friday, the president toured areas hit hard by flooding after Hurricane Helene, suggesting there that FEMA should undergo a major overhaul and that most disaster relief should be handled by the states.
In South Florida, West Palm Beach police announced the arrest of 46-year-old Shannon Adkins. He’s accused of posting threats on social media targeting the president.
Police said Adkins also had three bags of cocaine on him when he was arrested.
On Monday, House Speaker Mike Johnson will be leading the meetings in Doral. Republicans will be strategizing about how they can push through their agenda.
