Miami police responded to reports of gunfire around 5:30 a.m. at a home on Northwest 47th Street and 10th Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers said they discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Neighbors described the incident as shocking and uncharacteristic for the area.

“Well, I’m stunned,” said Barbara, who lives nearby. “You know, I’m sad because somebody’s life (is) at stake.”

For hours, officers combed through the property near the two-story home where the victim was found, documenting evidence and photographing the scene. A larger crime scene unit was later called in to assist in the investigation.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, but neighbors speculated on the circumstances.

“Things happen, it’s Christmas time, and people get in their feelings,” Barbara added. “You never (know) what (could happen.”

Despite the uncertainty, neighbors expressed hope that justice will prevail.

“You know, it’s quiet, you don’t hear no nothing,” Barbara said. “So that’s what I’m saying, for this to go on right here, what the heck. Especially right up in there, that’s very quiet.”

Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to determine what led to the early morning violence. Police have not yet released the age or identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
