DAVIE, Fla. – A special South Florida holiday tradition continued on Monday.
It was the 42nd annual Rick Case Bikes for Kids giveaway taking place at Rick Case Honda in Davie.
“We do it every year because there’s a need, and there’s people that have bikes that they no longer need,” said Rita Case.
Every year, dozens of gently used bicycles that were donated by the community are gifted to a group of children from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County.
Even Santa Claus himself made an appearance at Monday’s event.
“I feel good about my new bike,” said recipient Samorah Mesidor. “I actually had a bike at home, but it doesn’t work anymore. It got rusted.”
According to Rick Case, since 1982, Rick Case Bikes for Kids has collected and donated over 120,000 bicycles.
Bicycle donations are still being accepted at any Rick Case vehicle dealership through Dec. 22.
