Fire crews responded to the blaze around 6:30 a.m. at a home off Southwest 76th Avenue, south of Griffin Road.

Video from sky 10 showed firefighters battling the flames, dousing the smoldering structure, which had lost part of its roof in the fire.

Noon report:

Officials said crews arrived to find heavy flames and reports of possible entrapment. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze but discovered a victim inside who did not make it out.

The medical examiner later removed the victim’s body from the scene. The state fire marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

At this point, fire officials say it appears to be unintentional and that the fire may have been sparked by an electric scooter or bike that was charging in the building.

No further details about the victim or the circumstances of the fire were immediately available
