Authorities said there appeared to be “one fatality associated with the incident.”

When fire rescue personnel arrived, FLFR crews were able to quickly knock down some of the heaviest flames, but upon searching the residence, that is when they discovered the body of one person who was not able to make it outside.

Firefighters were seen addressing hotspots and assessing the extent of the destruction.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A DFR spokesperson said Davie police, the town’s Fire and Life Safety Division Fire Investigator, and the State Fire Marshal had been called in to assist with the investigation.

No further details about the victim or circumstances of the fire were immediately available.
