Police: 3 women shot in Miami during discussion about politics

MIAMI – Three women were shot early Wednesday morning in Miami during a discussion about politics, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News.

According to City of Miami police Officer Michael Vega, who is also a spokesman for the police department, the triple shooting occurred just before 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Northwest 19th Street.

Vega confirmed that a group of people were drinking and talking about politics when someone went to a vehicle, retrieved a gun and began shooting.

He said three women were struck by gunfire.

According to Vega, one victim was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the stomach and the other two victims were listed as stable.

A woman who lives in the area told Local 10′s Roy Ramos that she heard the gunfire.

“I hear somebody screaming and, you know, the sirens coming,” she said.

The woman that shooting are “very common around here,” but “there are good people in this complex.”

Police told Ramos they do believe they know who they are looking for, but an arrest has not yet been made.

No other details were immediately released.
