Hialeah police said the suspect, Yasser Barreto, 44, is a known patron of the bar, but became aggressive with servers after having several beers and becoming inebriated.
Barreto was escorted out of the business by the manager, who asked him to leave and not return. Police said Barreto then pushed the manager before walking toward his pickup truck where he grabbed a gun.
According to the report, another victim and two security guards witnessed Barreto racking the gun and shooting one round in the air as he walked back toward the bar.
Police said the victims ran toward Barreto and told him to get in his truck and leave, but Barreto pointed the gun at them and fired toward their legs and feet.
The victims weren’t struck, and ran behind the business to take cover, authorities said.
Police said the manager heard the gunshots from inside the business, so he grabbed his own gun and ran outside, where he fired about four shots in an effort to get Barreto to stop shooting and leave.
According to the report, Barreto then got into his truck and drove away.
The manager gave police Barreto’s driver’s license which he had left behind.
Officers confirmed that Barreto shot about nine rounds, two of which struck the front door of the business. Another projectile was found near the bar area.
Barreto was located on Wednesday and arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and shooting a deadly missile.
As of Thursday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond had yet to be set.
