According to authorities, Garcia, a Nicaraguan national, fled the scene after the crash, leaving Munoz Romero behind without ever attempting to render aid or report the crash to first responders.

A total of six people were injured in the crash that happened in the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and 95th Street on April 28 in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

After bond was initially set at $50,000, a Miami-Dade judge said that due to the nature of the case, Garcia would be held without bond. Garcia also is being detained on an immigration hold.
