The 39-year-old suspect is now facing a strong-armed robbery charge.
According to an arrest report, Mohamed, who is homeless, approached the victim at around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 32nd Street and wielded the car-cleaning tool.
Police said the victim threw $15 on the ground and kept on going, later telling police he didn’t want to “argue or fight” with Mohamed, who had broken the victim’s arm two days before.
The report states the victim went to the Chevron at 2190 NW 36th St. and told a woman he knows from the area about what happened; she called police.
Police said they located Mohamed, who “was carrying a squeegee and a small metal object,” at the McDonald’s across the street.
He was taken into custody on the strong-armed robbery charge and was also wanted for cocaine possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and petit theft, according to jail records.
According to jail records, Mohamed was being held in Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ward D, part of Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation, with a bond listed as “to be set” as of Monday afternoon.
