Arrest made after fatal shooting reported outside Miami Beach nightclub

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A suspect has been arrested in Broward County in connection with a fatal shooting that was reported early Sunday morning outside a nightclub in Miami Beach, authorities confirmed.

Jail records show Dvonn Reaux, 28, was taken into custody Sunday by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

He is being held at the North Broward Bureau on an out-of-county hold.

Miami police confirmed Monday that Reaux faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of Marley Case.

According to Officer Christopher Bess, who is also a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department, the shooting was reported just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday at 1532 Washington Ave.

A search of the address comes back to the Exchange nightclub on South Beach.

According to an arrest report, Reaux was inside the club but was kicked out after trying to fight with people who were also inside.

Police arrived and Reaux left, later returning after officers had left, which is when the fatal shots were fired, the report states.

Local 10 News arrived at the scene later in the morning as evidence markers could be seen on the ground just outside the club’s entrance.

Bess confirmed that responding officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot.

He said officers immediately began CPR on Case until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived.

The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he died, Bess confirmed.

Witnesses told Local 10′s Joseph Ojo that the victim was a security guard at the club.

“Some gunshots -- about five or six loud bangs came out -- they had the yellow tape all right here. (The) gentleman was laying down -- looked like a security guard,” witness Marcus Barnes said.

The arrest report states that Reaux took off in a gray Audi SUV. He was arrested less than 24 hours later in Miramar and is facing a second degree murder charge.

Loved ones described Case as selfless, gentle and generous, someone who never missed a reason to celebrate others.

A GoFundMe page has since been created to help Case’s family during their time of need.
