MIAMI – A 41-year-old man is facing two felony charges after police said he lewdly touched — then texted — a 15-year-old boy he encountered in the bathroom of a Miami church.

An arrest warrant doesn’t identify the church where Roberto Aguilar-Monjarrez, of Easton, Pennsylvania, is accused of touching the boy, but said the boy’s parents reported the incident to police on Nov. 18.

The warrant states that the boy, while at church, had gone to the bathroom with a friend and conversed with him while using a stall, giving his friend his phone number out loud to send to another friend.

Aguilar-Monjarrez was in the bathroom — and listening, police said.

Police the boy needed to fix his shoe and told his friend to go back to class, at which point he noticed he was alone in the bathroom with the stranger.

Aguilar-Monjarrez began conversing with the boy, asking where he lived, how long he had been coming to church and if he had a girlfriend, police said. According to the warrant, the suspect “got closer to him and caressed his neck with his right hand and touched (his) left arm a few times.”

Police wrote that the boy “felt uncomfortable and pushed his hand away and began to walk backwards,” but realized he was backed against a wall.

The warrant states the boy bolted into a stall and locked the door and waited to hear where Aguilar-Monjarrez walked to. Police said the suspect got into another stall.

After texting his friend to come back to the bathroom, with no response, police said the boy “took a chance and walked out,” then ran out of the bathroom after noticing the suspect wasn’t outside. The boy’s friend had then arrived.

Police said a few minutes later, a man named “Roberto Aguilar” sent the boy a WhatsApp message: “Holaaa.”

Police said the victim’s parents were able to identify Aguilar-Monjarrez after finding a Facebook profile matching his photo. The warrant states the boy’s father messaged him asking for a painter for a church project, and the suspect replied and gave a phone number matching the one he used on WhatsApp.

After reporting what happened to police, detectives took over the boy’s WhatsApp account, the warrant states.

Having commandeered the account, a detective posing as the boy told Aguilar-Monjarrez he was 15, police said. The warrant states the suspect told him he was 20 -- 21 years younger than his actual age.

When asked why he touched the victim, Aguilar-Monjarrez said “no sé porque me llamastes la atención,” or, in English, “I don’t know, because you got my attention.”

Police said Aguilar-Monjarrez went on to ask the boy about his masturbatory habits and penis size and told him to “do him a favor tonight and masturbate while watching porn.”

He then instructed the boy on how to search for pornography on the internet and assured him that “it is normal to masturbate at his age,” the warrant states.

Authorities took Aguilar-Monjarrez, listed in his arrest report as a Cuban national, into custody on two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child.

He was being held without bond as of early Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
