Man arrested for allegedly attacking woman on bus, trying to pull her pants off

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A South Florida man was arrested for allegedly attacking a woman on a transit bus.

That man is 48-year-old Derrick Perry, seen in a mugshot with his yellow shirt partially soaked with blood after officers said he resisted arrest following some very disturbing allegations.

It was Thursday at approximately 9:35 p.m. when police said Perry attempted to rape a woman at the Golden Glade Park & Ride.

The incident began when police said Perry tried to start a conversation with a woman.

What’s frightening is that all started on the bus.

The victim was on the bus and Perry wanted to talk to her, but she wanted no part of it.

She got of the bus and cops said it was then she was pushed and the suspect tried to take her pants down.

According to Perry’s arrest report, “The defendant had pushed her and smacked her on the buttocks and attempted to pull her pants off.”

As soon as officers arrived they were able to apprehend Perry, as he was attempting to leave on another bus.

Perry was apparently determined not to go to jail because police said numerous officers had to take him to the ground where they say he suffered a facial injury.

At the end of all this a frightening ordeal for a woman simply riding a bus, and a man now behind bars.

Also, Perry apparently has an extensive criminal history. Anyone who thinks they have been victimized by Perry is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
