Police release suspect in triple shooting near NW Miami-Dade bar, case remains ‘open’

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Officers released a man suspected in a triple shooting near a northwest Miami-Dade bar early Sunday morning, police told Local 10 News Monday.

The shooting happened outside the Chicagoan Bar and Lounge, on the corner of Northwest 7th Avenue and 107th Street.

Miami-Dade police had detained and questioned the suspected shooter, seen in a wheelchair firing off a rifle several times, after he returned to the scene, but detectives released him shortly after, a police spokesperson said.

Officials described the conditions of all three victims as “stable.”

Authorities have not released the man’s name or any information on what led up to the gunfire. Officials also haven’t detailed why the initial suspect was eventually released.

Police said the case remains “open” and “active” and investigators are working several new leads.
