MIAMI, Fla. – Dozens of Miami-Dade police officers responded to the Miami International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
It was centered around the departures level of American Airlines, which was completely shut down around 1:30 p.m., after a person of interest from a City of Miami police case was detained before he made it on board, according to police.

As a precaution, bomb squad technicians checked the man’s carry-on bag, but it was found to be safe.
The plane that the man was to have boarded was taken to a reserve area, deplaned and swept to make sure the person’s baggage was not onboard. The plane was determined to be safe, according to officials.
The departures area was shut down for about an hour and reopened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was taken into custody, according to Miami-Dade police. It was not released what the person was wanted for, but he is currently being questioned, according to police.
