Hate messages left on Miami Beach family's cars

Swastikas, "(expletive) Jews" written on cars in driveway of home

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Miami Beach police are investigating after a mother and daughter said they discovered hate messages written on two vehicles in their driveway.

The words "(Expletive) Jews" and swastikas were found on the cars. It's the latest in a string of incidents that have some in the community on edge.

"It makes me afraid that one day I'll come home and my walls will be full of paint," said Esther Fields, who lives at the home. "It makes me, you know, wonder who is doing this."

Fields and her daughter noticed the messages, written on both of the family's cars, Sunday.

Fields and her daughter said someone entered their Miami Beach property off Pine Tree Drive to write the hateful messages. The pair called police, who dusted for fingerprints and continue to investigate.

"It's scary that you live in such a world where you're kind of like scared to be Jewish, that any moment this person can come back," said Fields' daughter, Daniella.

Several other incidents have been reported across South Florida. Nearby, off Meridian Avenue, someone vandalized a neighborhood with eggs and wrote the words "Hamas" and "Jew" in cream cheese.

Temple Emanuel in Miami Beach was also vandalized earlier this year.

Communities and a synagogue in Broward County have also been vandalized with graffiti and hateful messages this year.

Fields said her family is taking extra precautions and plans to install security cameras, saying incidents like this have put them on guard.
