17-vehicle crash snarls traffic on Palmetto Expressway

HIALEAH, Fla. – The northbound lanes of the Palmetto Expressway were shut down Monday morning after a tractor-trailer caused a chain-reaction crash.

Hialeah Fire Department spokesman Cesar Espinosa said the tractor-trailer crashed near Northwest 122nd Street, spilling diesel fuel on the highway.

The crash caused a series of chain-reaction crashes involving a total of 17 vehicles.

Two people were taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Northbound lanes were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
