HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the head, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue.
The incident happened Friday evening in the 900 block of North 66th Avenue in Hollywood.
Investigators said the teen was on the street when he was shot by a man around 5:30 p.m. A Hollywood police spokesperson said a witness saw the gunman run from the scene with a white shirt covering his head.
A neighbor told Local 10 he saw the boy being placed into an ambulance and the boy appeared to be unresponsive.
A motive for the shooting was unclear as of late Friday.
Police had a portion of Johnson Street closed as SWAT officers and K9 units searched the area for the gunman, who remains at large.
