FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A security concern prompted JetBlue to divert a flight to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Saturday, according to the Broward County Aviation Department. 

JetBlue flight 893 from Newark Liberty International Airport to Santiago, Dominican Republic, landed Saturday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Airline spokeswoman Sharon A. Jones said the decision was made "out of an abundance of caution."

Passengers were asked to exit the plane and they were screened again at FLL before boarding the plane on their way to Santiago.
