3 American Airlines crew members taken to hospital after reports of odor on plane

Origin of odor unknown

MIAMI – Three American Airlines crew members requested to be taken to a hospital Monday after feeling sick from a possible odor inside a flight that had just landed at Miami International Airport, the airline said in a statement.

"Prior to landing at Miami International Airport (MIA), three crew members reported a possible odor in the cabin of American Airlines flight 1625," the statement said. "The aircraft, an Airbus A319 with 98 passengers and a crew of five from San Antonio, landed safely and taxied to the gate. Three crew members asked to be transported to a local hospital."

An airline spokeswoman said the aircraft would be evaluated by their maintenance team.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials also responded to the scene.

Lt. Felipe Lay said it's unclear whether the odor was the result of a chemical, rotten food or something else.

The fire department's hazmat unit was called out and brought in meters to see whether they could determine what caused the odor.

Miami International Airport spokesman Marc Henderson said the plane landed at 11 a.m.
