Broad Causeway drawbridge reopens after collision

Yacht comes into contact with drawbridge

BAY HARBOR ISLANDS, Fla. ā€“ The Broad Causeway drawbridge reopened Tuesday night, hours after a multimillion-dollar 161-foot mega-yacht caused a traffic jam on sea and on land Tuesday afternoon when it came into contact with the bridge on Biscayne Bay.

While being towed by two tug boats, the yacht Rockstar came into contact with a corner of the bridge that connects North Miami to Bay Harbor Islands. Ā

Views from overhead showed a large hole had been created where it appeared the bridge had collapsed on top of the vessel.

Fifteen people were on board the yacht at the time of the incident, although no injuries were reported.

Rockstar is registered out of George Town, Cayman Islands, and is currently for sale with an asking price of $20.9 million.

According to websites, Rockstar was built in 2009 and has five staterooms and a seven-person spa pool.

One of the tug boats pulled the yacht away from the bridge shortly after the incident, which is still under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Nautical traffic was limited to small boats while the Coast Guard investigated.
