Will Campbell, 17, arrested in Liberty City club shooting

15 people injured in shooting at The Spot last month

MIAMI – Miami police Monday announced the arrest of a 17-year-old boy in the Liberty City nightclub shooting that left 15 people injured last month.

Will Campbell is facing multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.

The Spot was hosting a teen night late last month when 15 people were shot.

"This all stemmed from a fight at Norland High School," Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa said.

Orosa said Campbell was involved in a dispute with one of the victims.

"Through Facebook, he found that there was an event at The Spot, they showed up and, low and behold, one of the guys involved in the fight was there," Orosa said.

Orosa said Campbell shot at the crowd as he ran away.

The intended target of the shooting, Trevon Simmons, 15, is the only victim who remains in the hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Club manager Tiffany Johnson is also facing charges after three bottles of liquor were found behind the bar. The establishment is only licensed to sell beer and wine.

Campbell is not being charged as an adult at this time.
