MEDLEY, Fla. ā€“ A South Florida man was arrested last week after he stole more than $45,000 worth of socks from a Medley warehouse, police said.

Raydel Leon Fernandez, 32, faces burglary and grand theft charges stemming from the June 2015 theft.

According to an arrest report, police noticed a car stopped in the middle of railroad tracks in Medley and saw a man running from the nearby warehouses.

Police followed the man as he got into the car and pulled him over on Northwest 72nd Avenue.

During a search of the car, police found a hammer and several pairs of gloves in the trunk.

According to the report, Leon Fernandez and another man were seen on surveillance video stealing a tractor from a business and attaching it to a trailer with a container on it. Police said the container was loaded with Gildan socks worth a total of $45,693.

Surveillance video showed the men cutting the locks to the gate and then ramming the gate with the stolen tractor-trailer.

A car following the tractor-trailer was the same car that police later stopped.

Leon Fernandez Ā was being held on $52,500 bond.
