Toddler drowns, another almost drowns in Miami Gardens

Both children taken to Jackson North Medical Center

A toddler died Tuesday night after drowning at a pool in Miami Gardens, and not far away in a separate incident another toddler nearly drowned.

The drowning happened at a home near 55 NW 188th St. 

Police told Local 10 News that 1-year-old's family found him inside the pool. A 14-year-old who was present at the time jumped in and pulled the toddler out.

A Miami Gardens police officer who arrived at the scene tried to revive the toddler along with paramedics.

The toddler was taken to the Jackson North Medical Center, where he later died. 

Around the same time, but at a different home, police got a call about a 2-year-old who almost drowned. 

The near drowning happened at 1775 NW 189th Terrace. The 2-year-old was also taken to Jackson North Medical Center. The child's condition is still unknown.
