Teenager injured after wall collapses in North Miami

Concrete wall lands on teen's leg

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A teenage boy was injured Thursday after a wall collapsed in North Miami.

Geradet Pierre's brother said they were walking near a 5-foot wall in the area of Northeast 18th Avenue and 146th Street when a concrete wall came tumbling down.

"He heard some weird noise and started to run but wasn't fast enough," Brian Pierre said.

Brian Pierre said the concrete wall landed on his brother's leg.

Pierre was taken to Jackson North Medical Center.

Records show the property where the incident happened is being rented by Group 1 Automotive, which is building an auto dealership.

The company released the following statement after the incident: "We are working together with the city to better understand the cause of the incident and to make sure that the site is secured. Our first concern is for the young man who was injured and making sure that he is taken care of."
