SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise police are asking for the public's help finding a woman wanted in a 2-year-old girl's kidnapping.
Last Tuesday, Robert Baumann notified the Sunrise Police Department that he and Megan Everett, 22, have an ongoing custody battle over their child, Lilly Everett, also known as Lilly Baumann.
When Baumann went to pick up his child last Tuesday in accordance with their visitation schedule, he was unable to make contact with Everett, Sunrise police said.
Baumann told police the last contact he had with Everett or Lilly was May 6. He said the girl's mother left a note.
"The note stated that she cannot allow a judge to dictate how to raise her daughter, and therefore she has to leave," Baumann told Local 10's Liane Morejon in a telephone interview.
Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for Megan Everett for kidnapping.
Although police don't believe Lilly is in any danger, Baumann believes Everett may have taken some guns from the home.
"I would hope that she would just stop all this nonsense and come back, bring Lilly home," Baumann said. "You know, there's no reason to keep her from a loving father."
