Police, FBI raid suspected drug lab at southwest Miami-Dade home

2 arrested after carfentanil, fentanyl found inside lime green home

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The FBI and Miami-Dade police raided a suspected drug lab Friday at a southwest Miami-Dade County home.

Miami-Dade police said officers and FBI agents served a search warrant at a home near Southwest 171st Street and Southwest 104th Avenue.

Police said they found carfentanil and fentanyl inside the lime green house.

"Fentanyl is 100 times more potent than morphine. Carfentanil is 10,000 times more potent than morphine," Detective Daniel Ferrin said. "Carfentanil is used as a tranquilizer for animals, and they're using it out here on our streets."

Sky 10 was above the scene as authorities dressed in white hazardous materials suits removed items from the home. Several large tents were set up outside the home.

Ferrin said the warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation lasting several months.

Two people, identified as Omega Dupont, 45, and Tyree Tyson, 29, were arrested. DuPont has a lengthy criminal past dating to the late 1980s.

Dupont is also facing animal abandonment charges after several dogs were found in poor condition on the property, including two that were tied to a fence without food or water, an arrest report said.

Neighbors told Local 10 News they are concerned about the safety of the children.
