HOMESTEAD, Fla. – South Dade Senior High School, 28401 SW 167th Ave, in Homestead, was among the Miami-Dade public schools with the most safety incidents reported to the Florida Department of Education during two consecutive school years.
During the 2012-2013 school year, the school was among the top 10 schools in South Florida on reports of vandalism, tobacco, theft, fighting, and breaking and entering.

During the 2013-2014 school year, it was among the worst 10 on drugs and violence in Miami-Dade. It was also one out of two schools that placed sixth in the state for having the most fights. About 6 percent of the school's reports were on drug use.
During the 2014-2015 school year, student Victor Nash was accused of sexually assaulting a woman two hours after dismissal.
According to Miami-Dade 2,241 students were enrolled and more than half of those students were getting a free or reduced lunch.
