GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A woman decided to let off some steam when she saw Gov. Rick Scott walk into a Gainesville Starbucks, and the confrontation was caught on camera.
Former Lake Worth commissioner Cara Jennings told WFTS in Tampa that she had been reading about Scott's funding cuts to Planned Parenthood, and when she saw him walk into the coffee shop Tuesday, she decided it was her chance to say something.
"You don't care about working people. You should be ashamed to show your face around here," Jennings said in the YouTube video.
Scott replied, "Oh, really, because we've got a million jobs."
Jennings then said, "A million jobs? Great. Who here has a great job?"
Jennings continued her criticism by accusing the governor of "stripping women of access to public health care." She also called him "an embarrassment to our state."
Scott made no further comment, and he walked out of the Starbucks empty handed.
"People with radical views tend to not like civil debate," Scott consultant Melissa Sellers said in a statement. "A self-proclaimed anarchist rudely yelled and cursed at the governor. She also refused to pledge allegiance to the flag. It's a free country, but it's not at all surprising that an anarchist prefers shouting over conversation."
