FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – No one was injured Tuesday morning during a police-involved shooting in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.
The shooting was reported shortly before 10 a.m. in the 600 block of Northwest 11th Avenue.
According to Fort Lauderdale police spokesman Keven Dupree, a police officer was investigating a suspicious person in the area when the officer was forced to discharge his firearm.
Dupree said the suspect drove off and crashed into another car at the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and Sixth Street.
Sky 10 was above the scene at 11 a.m. and saw a blue or black BMW and a silver Mustang crashed in the intersection.
Dupree said the suspect ran away after the crash, but was taken into custody in the area of Northwest 29th Avenue and Fifth Court.
Dupree said the suspect was not shot by the officer.
The victim who was struck by the suspect's car was taken to Plantation General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It's unclear why police were initially targeting the suspect.
The officer involved in the shooting was placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol, until an investigation into the incident is complete.
