BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – While law enforcement officers may or may not have a certain affinity for donuts, there's one thing they don't like when it comes to those delightfully tasty treats.
And that's when someone actually performs donuts on the jailhouse lawn.
Perhaps Michael Lee Roberts was unaware of that simple truth when he was caught on camera performing automobile stunts on the grass outside the Hernando County Detention Center in Brooksville.
The saga began Monday evening after Roberts refused to move his red SUV from the sidewalk in front of the main entry of the detention center.
After the fourth warning, Roberts got into his vehicle and proceeded to drive through the center's landscaping and on to the lawn.
Roberts continued to drive on the grass until he eventually hit a flag pole, stopping the car's movement.
Deputies ordered Roberts out of the vehicle where he was taken to the ground and handcuffed.
Roberts was booked in the same jail on charges of criminal mischief and two counts of resisting an officer without violence.
