MIAMI – A man was medically evacuated Sunday from a cruise ship that was about 40 miles east of the Sebastian Inlet.

The U.S. Coast Guard said a crewmember aboard the ship reported a 55-year-old passenger suffering from severe stomach pains.

A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended that the man be removed.

He was hoisted onto a Coast Guard helicopter and taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

His condition is unknown.
