CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Police have arrested a man in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Magdalena Weich, 38, who was found dead in a wooded area in Coral Springs in August.
Enrique Macotela initially told police Weich left to walk to Barnes & Noble on Aug. 18 but never returned home or went to work the next day. Her body was found Aug. 20 along Sample Road.

Police began questioning Macotela, who is the father of the woman's son, after finding out he had called out sick for work the same day Weich disappeared.
"There was no obvious trauma, but the way it was positioned and the location and other factors make it suspicious in nature," Sgt. Carla Kmiotek said.
Tuesday, police issued and executed an arrest warrant for Macotela, who was taken into custody and is expected to be taken to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
According to police, during the course of the investigation, detectives obtained surveillance video from area cameras. Kmiotek said there is video showing Macotela's car, pulled on the side of the road about 15 meters from where Weich's body was found, with its flashers on. That video has been turned over to the state attorney's office, she said.
Flanked by Coral Springs officers, Macotela was handcuffed and seen leaving the Coral Springs Police Department about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Macotela faces a charge of second-degree murder.
