Herrin said the SUV West was driving had no license plate and West did not have a driver's license. Herrin said West admitted to responding deputies that he was also on probation for robbery.

A check of his name revealed that West is listed as a violent offender with special conditions.

Herrin said West ran from the deputies after he was handcuffed but was quickly recaptured. He was later found to be in possession of marijuana, which was found in a plastic bag hidden in the crack of his buttocks, Herrin said.

West faces charges of driving without a license, operating a motor vehicle with no registration, resisting arrest, introduction of contraband to a jail facility and violation of probation.Ā
