Coast Guard reopens some Florida ports

Authorities ask boaters to beware of debris, missing signage

MIAMI – As authorities in South Florida returned to their regular schedules on Friday, the Coast Guard opened the ports of Miami, Miami River, Port Everglades and Palm Beach.

The U.S. Coast Guard was warning boaters to beware of Hurricane Matthew's impact at sea and remain cautious about going out on the water.

Boaters need to be vigilant about hazardous debris and damaged navigational aids. Authorities were also asking boat owners to avoid boarding a partially sunken boat and beware of energized electrical lines, harmful debris and dangerous wildlife.
